Here are some of the journeys of existing and past team members
Clare joined the practice in 1998 as a dental receptionist. After joining the practice, Clare found her love for the clinical side of the role and went on to train as a dental nurse. For many years Clare worked alongside the dentists and specialists broadening her knowledge and furthering her education. Clare completed further courses including radiography, impression taking and also trained in skin therapy treatments. With this experience and knowledge behind her in 2019 Clare moved on to a new role as a PA to the Executive Directors at the Royal Surrey County hospital. We are very proud of Clare’s journey, and we always love to see her when she pops in for her dental care.
George joined the practice straight from secondary school back in 2006, at 16 years of age George was keen to train as a dental nurse and learn all there is to know about dentistry. George completed her NVQ in 2008 and following this went on to gain her qualification in radiography. Starting at such a young age and working alongside dentists and specialists George showed a natural ability for leadership and responsibility and was promoted to clinical lead. It was in this role that George found her love for management and in 2019 took on the role as Practice Manager at 5 Dental & Skin, since taking on this role she has completed her level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management and is loving her new role.
Harry joined the practice in 2019 as a trainee dental nurse, following his A Levels. Unsure exactly which medical path he wished to follow Harry quickly developed his excellent skills as a dental nurse and qualified in 2021. In this time Harry realised that a career in dentistry was for him. Working alongside our dentists and specialists, Harry became more and more interested in surgical dentistry and in April 2022 he went to Sheffield University to pursue his career in dentistry. We wish Harry all the best of luck and hopefully he will return to 5 Dental & Skin at some point in the future!
Sophie was looking for work experience, to support a university application for medicine in a clinical setting during the summer of 2020. Emma reached out to Sophie about an escort role at the practice, which Sophie felt could fit around her pharmacology studies at Cardiff University. After joining the team Sophie decided to change her career path to dentistry. She is currently in her 2nd year of Dentistry at Bristol University and has just begun her clinical skills practice for both restorative dentistry and periodontics. She is enjoying it so much and looking forward to seeing her first patients in February 2023!

We strive to achieve a family like team atmosphere with highly supported staff and a strong focus on wellbeing. Regular meetings with all team members and department teams are arranged for employees to give feedback and express concerns. Quarterly anonymous digital surveys give employees a chance to voice any concerns and with an open-door management policy, team members are encouraged to share feedback to ensure a happy calm working environment for both the team and patients.
