As 2024 draws a close and we put down our instruments for Christmas, I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support, this year. Like many independent businesses, the last twelve months have proved to be some of the most challenging we’ve encountered but have been filled with so many wonderful chair-side moments, all of which instil a renewed sense of purpose.
Behind the scenes, we’ve celebrated the arrivals of beautiful babies, Maggie and Olivia; Kirsten and Jack’s engagement and Harry’s graduation from Sheffield School of Clinical Dentistry, amongst a number of other milestones. Looking to 2025, we are pleased to welcome back our lovely hygienist, Jo and superstar practice manager, George after their respective maternity leaves. Jo’s return will ease the pressure on Chloe and Naomi’s diaries (which are currently booked solidly until March!) and George… let’s just say we’ll be back on our best behaviour soon.

Festive opening hours and emergency contacts
This year, the practice will close at 1.00pm on Friday 20th December and reopen on Thursday 2nd January at 8.30am.
We hope that none of you require our services over the festive period but should you be struck down with toothache, we are only a phone call away. Our usual telephone number (01428 605594) will direct you to our out-of-hours line where you will be connected with one of the clinical team. Alternatively you can contact emma@5dental.co.uk.
Remember: if you are a plan member and abroad for Christmas, you are eligible to request assistance from the Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance scheme.
Fees in 2025
We are very aware that 2024 has been a difficult year for everyone. With the elections behind us and the fallout from the budget announcement behind us (for now), we are hoping that 2025 will see some return to normality. With that in mind, we have made the decision to freeze private fees until January 2026 and our membership fees until April 2026. That means that whether you’re a private pay-as-you-go patient or part of our practice membership, there won’t be any surprises when you visit next year.
A small favour…
We’re exceptionally proud of our team and the positive reviews we receive on Doctify, but there’s nothing more powerful than word of mouth. Our hygiene books may be chock-a-block but we’ve plenty of capacity for new patients. So, if you know anyone looking for a new dentist, please do mention us! We are extremely grateful for your ongoing support.
Launching 5 Stars!
We are very pleased to share that we will be opening our paediatric clinic, 5 Stars, in early 2025!
5 Stars will be led by the delightful Dr Kirsten Simpson who splits her time between 5 Dental & Skin and Great Ormond Street where she works as a Speciality Doctor in Paediatric Dentistry. Kirsten’s naturally calming and friendly approach means she excels in treating anxious children and those with complex medical needs.
The clinic will offer a range of treatment for children, with and without sedation, reducing the number of external referrals we have to make and, ultimately, the wait time for advanced treatment.
